M Health Fairview is looking for a Health Unit Coordinator at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This position is 56 hours per two weeks on the Evening shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as: PTO, dental/medical insurance, and more. Responsible for patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Health Unit Coordinators are part of a dynamic care team including Providers, RN's, Nursing Assistants and Department Leaders, creating an atmosphere of hospitality and efficiency. Using EPIC, the Health Unit Coordinator plays a critical role in the coordination of information ensuring an optimal patient visitor experience.

This unit has a total of 29 beds that sees abdominal pains, falls, strokes, chest pain, headaches etc within Pediatric through geriatric patients. This is the only ER in Minnesota that has a result pending room for patients nearing the end of their treatment so that they can wait for discharge paperwork, which opens our active treatment rooms sooner.
- Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
- Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
- Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care
- Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all internal and external customers, patients, families, physicians and the interdependent team
- Prioritizes and transcribes written doctor's orders under the supervision of the RN
- Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures
- Patient Care Delivery: Observes and collects pertinent data and/or clinical findings to enhance patient outcomes
- Patient Education: Provides patient educational information appropriate to the developmental level, learning needs, readiness, cultural values, and beliefs of patients and families
- Patient Safety: Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves
Requirements
- Experience: 1 to 3 years office experience required, preferably in a health care setting.
- Electronic Health Record knowledge required/experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred
- Patient care experience preferred
- Medical terminology knowledge/experience preferred
- HUC certificate
