About the Job
Performs the general and aseptic cleaning and sanitizing of patient rooms, auxiliary room and other specified areas throughout the hospital, using proper cleaning guidelines and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans patient rooms, offices and waiting areas using cleaning chemicals and disinfectants
- Cleans and sanitizes floors, equipment and furniture according to infection-control policies
- Cleans glass interior windows, woodwork, toilets, washrooms, and fixtures
- Cleans tables and dining area
- Scrubs, mops and buffs floorsReplenishes all paper towels, soap, and toilet paper within facility
- Handles and disposes of waste using standard procedures
- Maintains all cleaning equipment and supplies according to prescribed standards
- Monitors inventory of supplies such as paper towels, soap, toilet paper
- Assists the Housekeeping Supervisor in ensuring the daily work is completed
- Assists the Housekeeping Supervisor in training new employees in proper cleaning and disinfecting protocol
- Upholds the Organization’s ethics and customer service standards.

Requirements
Education/Licensure
- High school, GED, or equivalent required.
- CPI obtained within 60 days of hire.
Knowledge and Experience:
- High school level reading and writing skills
- Two (2) years housekeeping experience within a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of cleaning and disinfectant products
- Knowledge of infection control procedures

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for sustained period of time.
- Walk, push, pull, lift, carry objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position or otherwise move objects.
- Feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips.
- Express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly.
- Minimum standard of hearing ranges.
- Lift up to 50 pounds, exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently
- Minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction.
- While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.
