Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $65,000.00 to $76,377.60 and may commensurate with experience
SOME Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Healthcare Instructor for our fast paced, Center for Employment Training program. SOME Center for Employment Training is a tuition-free adult workforce training program that prepares adult learners for national, industry-recognized certifications for careers in Healthcare and the Building Trades. SOME CET empowers people to move themselves out of homelessness and poverty and into living wage careers through hard and soft skills training, adult basic education, and career development.
Program Description: The Healthcare Instructor (HCI), develops and delivers Medical Assistant and healthcare course instruction to students. The Healthcare Instructor also manages classroom and coordinate curriculum development with responsibility for meeting program outcomes.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's Degree or 3-5 years experience as a Medical Assistant; previous supervisory experience.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years experience as a Medical Assistant; Teaching or Training background; previous supervisory experience
Required License/Certification: Medical Assistant Certification; CPR/First-Aid
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (40 hours/week)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and ability to deliver healthcare courses
- Ability to supervise students in the classroom, laboratory and clinical areas
- Proficient with medical office and healthcare training software (ie. Medicine, Practice Partners, ECW and Health Center 21)
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritize
- Ability to set professional boundaries
- Has experience working in both the medical front and back office contexts.
- Supervisory skills
Expected Contributions for Instruction:
- Pharmacology - Administering and preparing medications via oral or injectable
- Phlebotomy- Capillary (glucose, hematocrit, PKU) and venipuncture via straight needle and butterfly, familiar with order of draw and centrifuge
- Lab procedures- Point of care testing
- Specimen collection - Cultures/Swabs
- Infection control -Handwashing, disinfection, sterilization of medical instruments autoclave usage
- Vital signs – pulse, respiration, blood pressure, temp
- Body measurements – height, weight, BMI, head circumference
- Electrocardiography
