- Project Estimation: Prepare accurate estimates for civil, fish window, and other infrastructure projects.
- Pre-Bid Evaluation: Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site work evaluations to gather relevant information.
- Blueprint Analysis: Review blueprints and specifications to understand project scope and requirements.
- Resource Identification: Determine labor, material, and time requirements necessary for project completion.
- Quantity Takeoffs: Perform takeoffs and complete estimate preparation for mechanical piping, concrete, and earthwork.
- Stakeholder Interaction: Maintain effective communication with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Request for Quotations (RFQ): Prepare RFQs and analyze subcontractor and material proposals to ensure cost-efficiency.
- Team Collaboration: Estimate entire projects independently or contribute to an estimating team, depending on the project's size and scope.
- Public Works & Site Development: Prepare bids for public works and site development projects.
- Project Management (if required): Manage projects ranging from $1 to $10 million, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with Heavy Bid, HeavyJob, InEight, Bluebeam, Trimble Business Center, and P6, are highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Project, with additional experience in Primavera, TBC, and AutoCAD being a plus.
- Educational Background: B.S. in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering degree is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in heavy civil construction estimating preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to multitask and handle tight deadlines.
- Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Compliance: Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to perform a variety of duties that may frequently change, with a high standard of accuracy.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods and use arms and hands to handle and manipulate objects.
- Ability to hear and distinguish between backup alarms, voices, and other sounds consistent with construction sites.
- Work indoors 95% of the time and outdoors 5% of the time, with exposure to all weather conditions.
