Heavy Duty Mechanic - Kuparuk Field Support Services - Fleet Shop
JOB SUMMARY:
The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction vehicles and equipment. This position may supervise apprentice workers engaged in vehicle and equipment repair work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Inspect heavy vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Proficient with CAT ET/ Cummins INSITE/ Volvo Prosis and TechTool.
- Proficient with emission after treatment, DEF dosing systems troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Prefer a minimum of 10 years of Caterpillar/ Volvo heavy equipment experience and Cummins engine experience.
- Knowledge and experience with diesel EGR systems on class 8 trucks and off-road equipment.
- Specific experience with hydraulic rough terrain cranes from Grove, Link-Belt, or Tadano.
- Repair heavy construction vehicles and equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, dump trucks, front-end loaders, motor graders, tractor-trailers, vac trailers, water trucks, scrapers aerial lifts, and other heavy equipment.
- Proficient in powertrain disassembling/assembling and failure analysis.
- Adjust, repair, and replace engines, fuel systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, suspension, steering, and transmissions.
- Disassemble and assemble vehicles and equipment parts using hoists, hand tools, pneumatic and electric tools, and instruments.
- Proficient with reading and understanding electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Proficient at cutting and installation of equipment and vehicle glass.
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and oil changes by maintenance schedules.
- Operate vehicles and equipment to diagnose and ensure operating efficiency.
- Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
- Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Supervise apprentice workers engaged in heavy vehicle and equipment repair work.
- Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
- Support AES's zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of five (5) years of related training and experience is required, ten (10) years is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment is preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with current medical card preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE:
While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet are free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
