Position Overview:The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Manager's primary function is to ensure the proper maintenance and repair of all-company owned heavy equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supervision of equipment repairs, scheduling of preventative maintenance, oversight of equipment rebuilds, and supporting our mechanics as needed.
What you’ll do:
- Prioritize, schedule, and dispatch mechanics. Coach and mentor mechanics as needed.
- Strategically schedule repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure that equipment down-times are limited and cause minimal disruption to the business.
- Provide direct supervision on complex repairs or rebuilds.
- Forecast and budget for repairs in conjunction with Equipment Department leadership and accounting teams.
- Order parts and maintain shop inventory.
- Ensure timely completion of work orders and accompanying documentation.
- Demonstrate leadership, coordination and effective communication with field and branch leadership to drive continuous safety improvement.
Work location:
- Yard Works, 20701 Hull Street Rd, Moseley, VA 23120
- 5+ years of maintenance experience repairing heavy equipment such as wheel loaders, excavators, bull dozers, or large farm equipment.
- Fleet management or maintenance leadership experience preferred, or at least 3 years of leadership in an environment with strong operational metrics in addition to possessing basic knowledge of mechanical operations.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record
- Must be able to read, write and speak English proficiently
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and organizational skills
- Must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines and achieve desired goals
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and web based applications preferred
- Must be capable of lifting up to 65 lbs
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
