Heavy Equipment Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our tool-belt shop team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, and cranes. This role is critical in ensuring that our equipment is in optimal condition to support our civil construction projects. This is a full-time position that is intended to be long-term opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and machinery, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Conduct inspections to identify wear and tear, and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
- Collaborate with operators and project managers to determine equipment needs and address any performance issues.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring the shop is fully stocked.
- Assist in the development of preventive maintenance schedules to extend equipment life.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Provide training and guidance to junior mechanics and apprentices as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Heavy Equipment Maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment specific to heavy machinery.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical personnel.
