Monks Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic - CDL to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with truck and diesel equipment, the ability to diagnose malfunctions using computerized tools, and a valid Class B CDL. This role requires travel to job sites, performing both scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs. - Travel to Worksites: Repair and maintain heavy construction equipment, such as excavators, rollers, blades, scrapers, and other machinery on-site.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, including diagnostics and repairs on engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and more.
- Troubleshooting: Use computerized tools to diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs in the field and in the shop.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks are completed in compliance with safety guidelines and regulations.
- Cab Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including the proper care of heavy equipment cabs.
- Attend Safety Meetings: Participate in daily or weekly safety meetings, following all safety protocols at job sites.
- Additional Work: Perform other construction-related work as needed, ensuring equipment is fully operational.
- Minimum 18 Years of Age
- Ability to pass and maintain pre-employment and random drug screenings
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical
- Ability to pass work history verification
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Requires use of mechanic's personal tools.
- Positive & Safe Work History
- Reliable means of transportation to and from assigned projects
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and operating levers or controls
- Climbing, manual and finger dexterity including eye-hand coordination
- Use of foot controls and pedals
- Requires good or corrected vision and hearing within normal range
- Requires working under stressful conditions
- Requires ability to operate large equipment in rough terrain
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to understand and follow safety guidelines
- Experience working on Truck and Diesel equipment / trucks
- Must have a valid commercial driver's license (CDL Class B)
- Required to provide photocopy of your driver's license so a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) can be obtained from DAC Service
- Verifiable good driving history for the past three years
- No DWI in past three years
- No failure to stop/report an accident
- No more than two speeding tickets in one year
- No making false accident reports
- No homicide, manslaughter or assault arising from the use of a vehicle
- No driving while license is suspended/revoked
- Ability to provide a current copy of your medical certificate and physical examination form
- Ability to pass the company road test
- Verifiable employment history for the past ten years for which he/she operated a commercial motor vehicle
- Endorsements for tanker, doubles, hazardous materials will be a positive attribute for the applicant
- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- Preference for individuals with experience in Heavy Civil Construction
- Frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold, noise and other conditions common to a construction site
- May require irregular hours, out-of-town work, overnight stays, nights, weekends and holidays
