Position Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining heavy and support equipment safely and professionally.
Your Role:
- Diagnose mechanical problems through Cat E.T. and Volvo Prosis/Tech tool software.
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment including but not limited to hydraulic, brake, and electrical systems, transmissions, engines, etc. to maximize safe and productive operations.
- Replace parts such as bearings, engines, cylinders, and screens.
- Overhauls of equipment such as loaders, excavators, sweepers, grinders, etc.
- Reads and interprets vehicle condition reports (VCR) and daily DVIRs from operators. and orders
- Communicates problems as well as preventative techniques with equipment users and vehicle drivers as well as supervisors.
- Completes all necessary paperwork with repairing vehicles, and documenting parts usage.
- Work well as our goal is to be a team/family.
- Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
- Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.

- Ability to complete safety, operational, and other required training within a scheduled time.
- Communication skills sufficient to complete required job functions.
- Demonstrated mechanical ability sufficient to complete routine tasks.
- Demonstrated success in the use of required safety equipment.
- Gritty, outgoing, and eager to learn.
- Effective communication (verbally and written)

Desirable, although not essential, requirements:
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- 2 years experience as an equipment operator mechanic in a plant environment; or 5 years of related experience which includes training in a plant environment.
- Valid Driver's license and medical card
