Heavy Equipment Mechanic Duties:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, cranes, loaders, and graders).
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on heavy machinery, including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and brake systems.
- Inspect and test equipment to identify potential problems and ensure optimal performance, adhering to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Repair or replace damaged parts such as motors, transmissions, hydraulic components, and electrical systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and improve longevity.
- Document all repairs and maintenance activities, ensuring accuracy in records for future reference.
- Collaborate with the operations team to ensure equipment is operational and safe to use for upcoming projects.
- Order and install replacement parts and coordinate with external vendors as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Perform on-site emergency repairs as needed to minimize project delays.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to calibrate and test machine components after repairs or adjustments.
Heavy Equipment Mechanic Requirments:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical training or certification in heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role (3+ years preferred).
- Proficiency with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems related to heavy machinery.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and repair software for heavy equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in diagnosing and fixing equipment.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in various environments, including outdoor sites and confined spaces.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate heavy equipment (CDL preferred but not required).
- Welding and fabrication skills (preferred but not required).
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to heavy machinery.
