Heavy Equipment Operator - Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District

Overview

Under general supervision, operates and performs minor maintenance of heavy construction vehicles and equipment to assist in the construction and maintenance of sanitary and storm sewer facilities

Qualifications

Suggested Training and Experience: 

Graduation from high school or equivalent AND five years of experience in maintenance and operation of heavy construction vehicles and equipment.

Desirable Knowledge Skills and Abilities: 

Thorough knowledge of the operation, servicing and daily maintenance of heavy construction equipment and vehicles; considerable knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and regulations involved in vehicle and equipment operation; considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and proper safety precautions: skill in the operation of heavy equipment used to dig trenches, lay pipe on grade and repair sewer pipe, hoist and set heavy materials, clear and grade land, spread and compact asphalt, trench compaction equipment, operate boom truck; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to supervise the work of subordinates. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: 
 

Must possess an appropriate, valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with endorsements for air brakes and tanker issued by the state in which employee resides within the first three (3) months of employment.

Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety sensitive, and candidate must pass a D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
