Reports to: Principal & Juvenile Detention Coordinator
Purpose: Under the direction of theTitle I Federal Neglected and Delinquent Criteria, provides support to students whoare at-risk of not graduating and/or have early warning signs of becoming an incarcerated youth.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of intervention strategies, assessments, and intervention resources
- BA incounseling, social work, criminal justice, or mental health related degree
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, and parents
Physical and Emotional Requirements:
Speaking, hearing, visual, reading, writing, word processing, mobility, consistency of temperament, ability to problem solve and work in stress providing environments.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide case management services to an identified group of at-risk students;
- Monitor attendance, academic progress, external resources, and mental health needs;
- Transition students leaving the Shawnee County Juvenile Detention Center (SCJDC) back in to the school setting; ensuring students get enrolled in the appropriate school;
- Prepare and deliver targeted social emotional/behavioral supports in a small group, individual, and/or classroom setting;
- Deliver social skills lessons using district approved curriculum;
- Deliver and use assessment results to diagnose areas of need and make service decisions that address students' needs Use research-based strategies that meet students' academic, emotional, and social needs
- Coordinate planning and communicate students' performance with teachers,counselors,and principal;
- Use district-approved resources, which includes both primary and supplemental resources;
- Monitor and maintain accurate records for reporting student progress;
- Participate in GEI/504/IEP meetings as requested;
- Participate in building Mental Health Team meetings;
- Participate in district professional development.
Terms of Employment: 9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
