HKS serves the New York City/Long Island area from its new headquarters in dynamic downtown Brooklyn and the Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youth and Adults of Sands Point, New York, which has a network of regional offices that extends HKS’ reach across the United States.
We currently have an exciting career opportunity available to join the HKS team as a Housekeeper for our Hempstead Location.
SUMMARY
Responsible for the execution of HKS’s Mission, goals, and objectives by providing maintenance and housekeeping services to consumers, staff and visitors of HKSB in the Hempstead Facility, specifically assigned to the Day Hab Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ To provide cleaning services necessary to maintain the interior of the buildings in a clean and sanitary condition.
+ Assists in exterior cleaning on a temporary basis.
+ Performs cleaning of offices, classrooms, corridors, furnishings, toilet rooms, storerooms, and workrooms so as to maintain their surfaces in a clean and sanitary condition.
+ Assist in cleaning sidewalks, driveways and parking areas of snow or debris when required.
+ Ability to use a variety of tools used in the various cleaning processes. Proper use of carpet/rug shampoo, floor buffing, and vacuum machines. Can measure and mix, according to manufacturer’s directions, cleaning solutions and solvents used in the cleaning procedures.
+ Responsible for other duties as may be assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor and/or the Director of the Department.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalency preferred.
PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Previous porter or housekeeping experience preferred.
Sufficient communication skills and understanding to perform tasks required and a demonstrated ability to properly and safely handle powered equipment used. May be required to lift and carry 50 pounds.
