Position Overview: The HLA Lab Manager will oversee all aspects of the HLA laboratory operations, including staff management, quality control, and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HLA testing, laboratory management, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the HLA laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality testing.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate laboratory staff, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor laboratory procedures, protocols, and quality assurance programs.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including e.g., CAP, CLIA standards.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and troubleshooting issues as needed.
- Manage inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Analyze and interpret HLA typing results, providing guidance and support to clinical staff and physicians.
- Collaborate with other departments and external partners to support research initiatives and patient care.
- Prepare and present reports on lab performance, quality metrics, and operational updates to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Immunology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) with a specialization in HLA or related field, or equivalent certification.
- 5 years of experience in HLA testing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of HLA typing techniques, including PCR-based methods and serological assays.
