Pay Range: $17.55 per hour
Position Overview
The San Jose Barracuda are looking for Hockey Equipment Assistants to serve as locker room attendants, supporting Equipment Managers during home game days.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of the Barracuda locker room prior to the players' arrival on game day.
- Set up and break down the Barracuda player bench and the penalty boxes with the required game items (bottles, towels, sticks, game pucks, etc.)
- Collect the spare sticks for the team and place them on the bench according to each equipment manager's specifications.
- Fill, refill, and swap out water bottles on each bench and penalty boxes during each intermission between periods.
- Provide active support for each team throughout the period of play to receive communication from the bench and fulfill any needs from the home locker room.
- Support post-game clean-up and preparation for the next home game.
- Communicate and coordinate with the Barracuda Head Equipment Manager throughout the week leading up to a home game and throughout the game night.
- Assist in laundry before, during, and after games.
- Always demonstrate and maintain a professional appearance and attitude,
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Hockey Operations staff and office staff.
Qualifications
- Experience in a sports setting preferred.
- Commitment to perform duties at the highest level possible on a consistent basis.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking skills and personal accountability.
- Positive attitude and desire to be successful while having fun within a professional and team-oriented environment.
- Work well in a team environment and have the ability to collaborate with others.
- Coachable and eager to learn.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the team's schedule.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate, transport, and manipulate certain equipment up to 25 pounds with or without accommodation.
- Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 25 lbs with or without accommodation.
- Must be able to walk for long stretches of time throughout the duration of the shift.
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time inside and outside.
