About the Job
Underdirection isresponsible for maintaining coordinated crimeprevention-publicsafetyservicesbetween lawenforcementfield operationsandreal-timetacticaloperationscenterpersonnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXAMPLESOFWORK
- To apply appropriateanalyticalmethodsand techniquestoidentifyand analyzerawinformation forthepurpose of providing real-timesituationalawarenesstolawenforcementassetsand commanders.
- To conductreal-timeintelligenceleadpolicing assessments of majorcrime.
- To communicatesituationalawarenessandvirtualpatrolobservationstolawenforcementfieldunits.
- To collectperiodicprogressand situation reportsfrom field supervisors,DistrictCommanders,and other monitored units.
- To monitortele-communicationsand field operations to ensurecall for serviceprioritization,tiered emergencyresponse,automatedemergency dispatch,andresourceutilization followsdepartmentprotocols.
- To performpriorityCCTVsurveillanceassignmentinmattersinvolving officersafety,in-progresscrimes,unusualevents, or publicemergencies.
- To evaluatedirected patroland engagementactivity toensurecrimepreventioneffortsareconsistentwith crimeprevention plans,pre-determined patrolsector/hotspotexpectations,and in responsetoemerging crimeconditions.
- To monitorthefield unitresponse to publicsafety emergenciesin real-time.
- To correlate,integrate,andevaluatevaryingtypes of information frominvestigativeandoperationalactivitiesforthepurpose of generating investigativeleads.
- To monitorandevaluate resource utilizationmetrics,proactive alignment, quantitative andqualitative levels of crime preventioneffort, and the existence of criminal activity todeterminesufficiency andeffectiveness.
- Performsrelatedwork asrequired.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’sDegree incriminal justice, InformationManagementSystems, ComputerScience, or closely relatedfieldfromanaccreditedcollege or university.
NOTE:Equivalentcombinations of education and experiencemayalsobeconsidered.
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLSANDABILITIES
- Knowledge of crime preventiontechniquesandpublicsafety emergency response operations.
- Knowledge of computersystemsused to monitorpolice operationsinreal-time andanalyzedata.
- Ability to communicate orally andwriting to effectively prepare findingsandcreate reportsforcommandlevelofficers.
- Ability to presentfindingsin a concise andwell-organizedmanner.
- Ability to effectively represent the clientwheninteracting withcounterpartsthroughout the Intelligence andlaw enforcementcommunities.
