QUALIFICATIONS
- Meets the training requirements in accordance with State and Federal laws.
- Is at least 17 years of age.
- Possesses and maintains good physical stamina and mental health. Presents a pre-employment physician's health clearance, including negative TB skin tests and/or CXR and other tests as required by specific state statute.
- Has ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
- Has ability to effectively communicate via written or oral skills.
- Is self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
- Has empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
- Is flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation.
- Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene.
- Able to obtain transportation to assigned cases. If HHA is a licensed driver, automobile must be insured in accordance with Organization requirements and in good working order.
- Respects as confidential any information acquired and will not discuss the patient/family’s affairs with anyone but the primary care nurse or supervisor. This is a moral and ethical obligation.

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
The home health aide is a paraprofessional member of the home care team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Therapist and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the patient's needs. The home health aide is responsible for observing patients, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed.
