About the Job
Bethany School seeks a Long term substitute teacher 6th grade SS/Math beginning November 2024. Successful candidates are culturally competent, responsible, caring, and enthusiastic people who possess content area and pedagogical knowledge in English language arts, math, and social studies, as well as in ways these areas intersect with other content areas such as art and music. Successful candidates will also demonstrate understanding of the developmental characteristics of children in the intermediate grade levels (4-6) and will have had positive experiences working with students within in these grade levels. Prior experience implementing a social emotional learning/advisory curriculum is a preferred qualification. Compensation includes salary and benefits commensurate with education and experience.
Qualified Homeroom Teacher candidates will possess or demonstrate the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, the humanities, math, or other related field required.
- A commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Initiative regarding job-related tasks, responsibilities, and projects
- Collaborative skills and the ability to work well in team settings
- Prioritization of student safety and security
- Dependability and professionalism; be punctual, complete work in a timely manner, exhibit a consistent work ethic, maintain calm under pressure, and exercise sound judgment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; communicate effectively and professionally in writing and verbally
- Proficiency in the use of technology; experience with Surface Pro devices, BenQ or other interactive boards, Google Classroom, Google Workspaces, Rediker SIS preferred
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development
