A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HOSPICE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOCIATE
This position is responsible for scheduling, phone triage and accurately reviewing and generating patient documents for the Hospice Program. In addition, this position is responsible for providing administrative support to Hospice team members. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performs reviews for hospice admissions and recertification's to ensure accuracy of clinical.
- Actively promotes atmosphere of learning and openness to empower staff with knowledge necessary for staff to attain and maintain independent compliance.
- Actively stays up-to-date on electronic health record processes, including day-to-day operations by reviewing data, and communicating to staff.
- Manages scheduling for the Hospice and Palliative care team in coordination with leadership and staff
- Responsible for telephone triage for the hospice and palliative care team. Receives client and staff telephone calls/complaints. Notifies manager of issues in a timely manner to allow for effective planning/intervention.
- Creates and maintains efficient and effective electronic shared filing system that facilitates data storage and retrieval.
- Fills in for Front Desk Receptionist as assigned.
- Assists with review of hospice bills from a variety of internal and external sources and takes action to ensure accuracy, including but not limited to, accuracy of diagnosis, current hospice patient, etc.
- Generates contracts to other hospices, community care/nursing facilities and venders as needed/requested.
- Coordinates delivery of information for IDT and clinical staff meetings as requested.
- Maintains daily census of patient activities report, including, but not limited to, admissions, discharges, transfers, hospitalizations, deaths, etc..
- Performs a variety of office administrative tasks and takes action to ensure that tasks are performed within established time frames.
- Upon notification from Hospice clinician, discharges patients in accordance with agency and CMS policies.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years of health care experience in medical records, administrative assistant in a medical setting, or related field required. Prior experience in a hospice program preferred.
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment adult, child abuse, background checks and driver record review required. Must show proof of auto insurance prior to employment.
