Volunteer: Make a Difference, Fulfill Volunteer Hours Obligations

Haven Hospice is seeking volunteers to visit with patients and/or help with office duties, as well as volunteers with special skills. Come make a difference in our patient's and their family's lives! You can choose what you are comfortable doing while you volunteer, there are many opportunities. Detailed training provided.

Direct Patient Care Volunteers

• Companionship - providing patients/families with socialization
• Brief respite - sitting with a patient while their family caregiver runs errands
• Reading to patients or watching tv with them
• Walking patient’s dog
• Cooking or cleaning
• Helping patient write letters
• Handyman jobs
• Grocery shopping
• Life review - help patient/family reminisce and/or record patient’s life stories
• Etc.

Administrative/Office Volunteers

• Filing
• Preparing patient packets
• Data entry
• Answering the phone
• Special projects

Bereavement Volunteers

• Assist with visits, phone calls and support groups for bereaved family members
• Assist with memorial events
• Put together bereavement mailings

Specialized Services Volunteers - license/certification required

• Massage therapists
• Music therapy
• Pet therapy
• Art Therapy
• Hairdresser
