As our Hospital Director, you’ll be the go-to person for driving success in an entrepreneurial environment, partnering with our talented medical team, and reporting directly to Ethos Specialty/ER leadership. You’ll be the heart of our hospital’s operations—leading, motivating, and growing our amazing team, all while making data-driven decisions to ensure both clinical and financial success
Job Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Directly oversee all operations and business activities, leading team members across all departments with enthusiasm and purpose.
- Partner effectively and collaboratively with the Medical Director, who plays a key role in hospital management and ensuring high-quality patient care.
- Demonstrate a strategic orientation by translating vision into actionable plans, managing operations effectively to achieve objectives.
- Direct the leadership team collaboratively, facilitating resolution of issues and driving growth within the hospital.
- Organize and conduct engaging staff meetings, regularly meeting with managers to evaluate and plan for the welfare of the practice while attending corporate meetings.
- Consciously shape a positive hospital culture based on trust and teamwork, catering to the needs of our clients and referring veterinarians.
- Oversee recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of staff in conjunction with the Medical Director, ensuring we attract top talent.
- Monitor employee competence and effectiveness through manager feedback and observation, conducting performance and salary reviews while overseeing disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Collaborate on the recruitment, interviewing, contract negotiation, and hiring of doctors with the Medical Director to maintain our high standards of care.
- Work closely with the Medical Director to establish optimal medical care while maintaining the hospital's positive financial health.
- Exhibit a calming, humble, and teachable attitude, effectively addressing decisive change throughout the hospital.
- Be passionate about providing resources, support, and supervision for hospital staff, fostering an incredibly positive and forward-moving culture.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the local market and build strong relationships with referring general practice veterinarians to grasp their needs.
- Understand, participate in, and support planned marketing events and programs, ensuring that the hospital staff utilizes marketing tools effectively.
- Identify and execute short- and long-term plans for growth, including new service additions, recruitment of key team members, pricing strategies, space optimization, and equipment acquisitions.
- Take charge of accounting and finance processes within the hospital, creating annual operating budgets aimed at revenue growth and profitability.
- Lead hospital financial activities with monthly reviews of financial statements and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Apply continuous improvement principles to financial and operating processes, fostering a feedback loop with doctors and staff.
- Own the P&L and ensure that financial results meet and exceed expectations.
- Review accounts receivable for proper and timely processing.
- Handle payroll processing biweekly, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Be an inspirational and motivational leader, driving results across all business elements by setting goals and evaluating progress.
- Help each team member develop a deep understanding of the mission, vision, and values, aligning their work with business goals that drive our success.
- Partner effectively with Ethos and technology providers to enhance hospital activities and improve client and veterinarian experiences.
- Direct growth activities to support business objectives, providing thought leadership, coaching, and mentoring to elevate the entire team’s performance and productivity.
- Understand lean principles, identifying and executing opportunities to improve processes and create efficiencies.
- Recognize how to grow and develop De Novo locations in line with market potential.
- Administer and review non-medical client complaints, ensuring swift resolution.
- Oversee billing processes, including calculations of discounts and special accounts.
- Ensure client flow is smooth, guaranteeing that clients and patients are treated professionally, timely, and competently.
- 3+ years of progressive operational management experience with a record of success, including experience managing a P&L.
- Business degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Management experience in the veterinary medicine industry preferred; candidates from human healthcare with a passion for animal welfare are also encouraged to apply
- Learns quickly and can absorb new information rapidly.
- Self-motivated while also an expert at motivating, coaching, and inspiring others.
- Ability to roll up your sleeves and get things done with enthusiastic participation, including flexible and irregular hours and role descriptions to support the hospital.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
