- Position Summary
- In collaboration with the Nurse Manager is responsible for the coordinating, facilitating, and assessing quality of care provided throughout hospital during their shift. Assist the Nurse Managers with the responsibility for ensuring compliance of standard of Nursing Practice that promotes optimum health delivery and positive outcomes. Functions within the scope of nursing practice as defined by the Georgia Board of Nursing.

- Bachelors in Nursing - Preferred
- Associates in Nursing - Required
- Experience
- 3-5 Years Acute Care Nursing, including Nurse Management experience - Required
- Additional Experience Information - Must possess strong involvement in the acute care patient areas with successful demonstration of systems development, leadership and team building.
- License & Certification
- Professional License with State of Practice - Required

- Represents Administration and Nursing Services in a positive manner to co-workers, patients, families and visitors, and maintains up to date knowledge of policies and procedures of Hospital. Advocates for patients and families and acts as a public relations representative with patients and visitors. Takes initiative to help Department staff and Physicians as able.
- Exercise independent judgment in the assessment of patient's needs, and identifies clinical priorities throughout the Hospital. Responds appropriately to resolving issues that impact patient care. Communicates with outside agencies as appropriate and within Hospital guidelines, such as funeral homes, organ procurement agencies and coroner.
- Coordinates with Room Assignment as necessary for patient assignment and placement. Patient transfer is coordinated with appropriate department as needed. Accurate and complete information is obtained when scheduling pre-operative or pre-procedure cases during closed hours of operating for the procedural department.
- Monitors safe and effective patient care and acuity of departments as well as staff skill mix to make decisions about staffing assignments. Communicate variances to Clinical Managers and monitor staffing levels based on Department census, flexing as needed. Relevant and accurate information is reported on identified critical patients to the Management Team.
- Assists staff with obtaining supplies from Departments that are closed. Facilitates transportation of medical equipment between two Hospitals. Need for on call personnel is accurately determined and personnel are contacted in a timely manner.
- Computer schedule of personnel is verified and corrected during rounds on the nursing units. Urgent incidents or occurrences are resolved to the best of ability prior to the end of the shift. Shift activity report is accurately completed at the end of the shift and sent to appropriate personnel.
