Position Summary
The Hotel Operations Manager supports the Director Hotel Operations in oversight of the daily Operations of Alaskan Dream Cruises Hotel Operations. The role includes administrative duties as well as extensive travel (overnight 2-3 days onboard each ADC vessel/month and as needed), overseeing the Hotel Managers on board to ensure proper execution of service standards and oversee the day to day operation. The Hotel Operations Manager hires, coordinates and is responsible for training of Hotel employees onboard the ADC Vessels. The Hotel Operations Manager operates according to the Core Values of True Alaskan Hospitality as defined in our Mission Statement that drives the guest experience culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hire, coach and train all hotel staff.
- Create start up schedule with assistance from Director of Hotel Operations
- Lead the seasonal start up training program of stewards, AHM & HM’s of the ADC Vessels according to the Core Values of True Alaskan Hospitality as defined in our Mission Statement: “Immerse each guest in personable and unsurpassed level of service we call True Alaskan Hospitality”.
- Create, monitor and audit execution of Standard Operating Procedures onboard the ADC vessels, and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Improve guest experience quality through consistency and effectiveness
- Report discrepancies in standards onboard to the Director of Hotel Operations.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere in which each team member ‘breathes’ Alaskan Dream Cruises by maintaining a guest experience culture throughout the department.
- Seek opportunities to improve the on-board product and its operation.
- Assist the Hotel Managers in driving on board revenue to achieve and exceed the projected sales and on-board margins.
- Assist the Hotel Managers in maintaining costs according to set targets along with effective ordering, inventory control.
- Overnight 2-3 day visit on every vessel every month during season and as needed to support & assess the operation.
- Other duties as assigned.
RECOMMENDED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Degree in Hospitality preferred; minimum of 5 years of progressive Hotel Operations, preferably cruises lines
- Strategic planner with sound technical skills, analytical ability, sound judgment and operational focus.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Must have ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a highly diverse environment and able to execute operational imperatives in a swift and demanding environment.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Travel to the vessels in Alaska and extended stay on board is required. Must be physically able to work a typical 8–12-hour workday, up to seven days a week during the season. Environmental conditions generally include ambient inside temperature, ambient inside lighting, ambient to loud noise levels, all weather conditions, occasional use of required protective clothing. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Some stress may occur, especially during traveling periods as well as during periods of daily activities.
