Saint Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) has been providing quality therapeutic services to youth for over 30 years and is currently accepting applications for Professional House Parents (Single or Couple). This is a unique opportunity to become a member of a dedicated and professional team passionate about the care of the youth we serve. This is a live on campus position with a schedule of 3 ½ days on, 3 ½ days off. Weekend availability is required. The Professional House Parents are directly responsible to the Program Director or his/her designee.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Florida driver’s license
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification
- A history free of offenses as listed on the Affidavit of Good Moral Character
- Must be able to pass an extensive background screening
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
- Personal and professional reference checks required
- Passionate about helping others
COMPETENCIES:
- Present oneself in a positive, professional manner to the children and other agency personnel
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Be a passionate role model and remain a positive mentor for children
- Be a productive Team Member. Desire to work cooperatively as a member of a team for the benefit of the child and the organization
- Provide structure. Be consistent in providing discipline to each child, as prescribed by the program and the individual treatment plan
- Provide a homelike environment. Make the SAYS residential environment as near to a home as is possible
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work at the prescribed times as agreed upon with the Program Director
- Directly supervise and manage the behavior of the children
- Provide behavior intervention services to children with mental health diagnoses
- Follow proper physical restraint techniques when necessary to prevent a child from harming themselves or others
- Plan and discuss group discussions or constructive recreational activities with children when appropriately scheduled
- Implement behavior intervention and teach social skills
- Maintain accurate records and written documentation of all work activities in the manner prescribed by the Program Director and the policies and procedures
- Attend treatment team meetings
- Support, motivate and encourage clients and staff
- Provide structure, activities, and support to the children
- Maintain daily living and a therapeutic environment
- Purchase food, plan menus, and prepare meals
- Perform general housekeeping and laundry
- Report facility or grounds maintenance needs to the Operations Manager to assure the safety of the clients
- Instruct children in personal hygiene habits and oversee the physical health of the children
- Dispense items such as toiletries, clothing, linens, etc. as required
- Monitor and document consumption of medication and ensure that the proper medication and dosage is always available
- Participate in all referral interviews and new intakes as needed
- Transport children to any appointments, medical or otherwise, to school as needed, and any other place as prescribed by the individual treatment plan
- Follow all policies and procedures of the organization
- Complete all on-boarding training and maintain required annual trainings
- Assist with fundraising efforts
