Requirements of the Housekeeping/Laundry Manager:
- A minimum of a high school education or high school equivalency diploma.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong knowledge of computer systems and software applications
- 3 years experience and previous healthcare environmental services experience preferred
- Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.
Responsibilities of the Housekeeping/Laundry Manager:
The primary purpose of your position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Housekeeping/Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards guidelines, and regulations governing our Facility and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that our Facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
- Lead and manage the housekeeping department and its activities.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
- Conduct weekly quality control inspections.
- Support staff with policies, procedures, and equipment.
- Annually review and update departmental documents.
- Participate in facility surveys and address deficiencies.
- Perform administrative duties (forms, reports, evaluations).
- Serve on and implement recommendations from facility committees.
- Regularly meet with staff and supervisors to improve operations.
- Attend and schedule departmental meetings.
- Schedule work hours, assignments, and cleaning schedules.
- Monitor absenteeism and ensure adequate staffing.
- Delegate authority and responsibility as needed.
- Standardize housekeeping task methods.
- Review and assess staff competence, making necessary adjustments.
- Counsel and discipline staff as required.
- Supervise safety and fire protection programs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and use of safety equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Maintain stock levels of supplies and equipment.
- Ensure accessibility of material safety data sheets.
- Train staff on hazard recognition and protective measures.
