HR Assistant: Absence Manager
$25-$33/hr
Contract: 3 months

- Associates Degree
- 1+ years experience with absence management, LOA, Worker’s Compensation
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources
- Experience with FMLA or workers’ comp preferred
- Kronos and WorkDay experience preferred
Job Description: The role involves a range of administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the Absence Management department, specifically regarding Leaves of Absence and Workers’ Compensation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leaves of Absence Support:
- Assist the absence management team with the administrative processing of Leave of Absence (LOA) approvals.
- Manage requests and handle the absence management email correspondence.
- Generate reports on all aspects of LOAs.
- Provide education to employees and managers regarding the FMLA request process.
- Support managers with the LOA process and time entry.
- Collaborate with the LTD/STD provider to facilitate wage replacement for staff on leave.
- Coordinate and process incoming faxes and emails.
- Enter data related to LOAs into the Kronos system.
- Verify eligibility for LOAs.
- Draft letters and notify managers as necessary.
- Offer assistance for team absences and time off.
- Workers’ Compensation Support:
- Provide administrative support for workers’ compensation cases.
- Assist injured workers with inquiries and concerns.
- Educate managers on internal workers' compensation procedures.
- Conduct audits to identify injured workers requiring leave.
- Participate in team meetings with labor relations.
- Engage in quarterly claim reviews.
- Help process workers' compensation claims and follow up with employees to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with payroll and Sedgwick to ensure correct compensation for those on indemnity.
- Additional Duties:
- Pursue professional development by attending 1-2 training sessions offered by Organizational Development and Training annually.
- Adhere to hospital standards of performance and conduct, particularly regarding patient rights, to provide optimal customer service and care.
- Use Boston Medical Center’s values as a guide for decision-making to support the hospital's mission.
- Follow established infection control and safety protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
