Position Summary:Demonstrated skill in communicating clearly and effectively with faculty, staff, students, and visitors, both orally and in writing, to convey accurate and timely information. (Required) Broad knowledge of University policies and procedures related to employee relations, compensation, leaves of absence, and employee benefits. (Preferred) Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with faculty, students, administrators, and staff in order to maintain and productive work environment. (Required) Demonstrated ability to work in Windows environment with Microsoft Office software programs including Word, Excel and Access. (Required) Demonstrated competence with utilizing University accounting, employee, and payroll systems such as or similar to UCPath and other type online financial systems. (Preferred) Demonstrated ability to make accurate numerical calculations and provide financial analysis and projections. (Required) Skill in writing clear, concise, logical and grammatically correct correspondence. (Required) Skill in working independently and following through on projects with minimal direction; to make independent judgments and decisions; to discern when action of a higher level is required; and in prioritizing assignments and completing work among pressures and interruptions. (Required) Working knowledge of financial management principles, including budget preparation and analysis. (Required) Demonstrated skill in completing tasks in a confidential manner, and with tact and sensitivity. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (Required) Special Conditions of Employment:Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation. Incumbent analyzes and interprets campus and UC policy and procedures and troubleshoots problems, provides guidance, and resolves issues and discrepancies related to HR and payroll matters, such as hiring, training, performance management, collective bargaining agreements, payroll, employment related policies and procedures, purchasing, reimbursement, and travel-based items for the Division.
