HR Generalist/Labor Relations Specialist
Immediate opening for a Human Resources Generalist/Labor Relations Specialist in University Park, Illinois
Responsibilities
+ Responsible for HR Generalist activities including recruitment and selection, onboarding, associate relations, coaching, performance management, corrective action, team building, leadership, organizational development, change management, training, and exit interviews.
+ Actively manage negotiation processes and outcomes for three collective bargaining agreements, providing research and insight for contract preparation.
+ Interpret collective bargaining agreements and determine the company's position on contract discrepancies, violations, and disciplinary matters.
+ Monitor and report on cases to ensure timely and consistent management and documentation of employee relations issues, including grievances, investigations, and performance issues.
+ Recommend appropriate changes in policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, reduce absenteeism, and achieve cost savings and other benefits for the company.
+ Facilitate talent and succession planning, career pathing, performance appraisal processes, and other project management activities.
+ Initiate proactive partnerships with functional managers to identify opportunities to improve business results.
+ Provide both strategic and day-to-day tactical HR support for assigned client groups.
+ Examine organizational structures and work processes, recommending improvements.
+ Assist and implement strategies to retain key associates and create a positive and productive work environment and culture with a focus on talent management and retention.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and HR trends, standards, and best practices, and stay abreast of applicable human resources regulations and trends.
+ Establish and maintain department records and reports, participate in department meetings, and attend other meetings such as seminars and operations meetings.
+ Prepare and present required and special reports for contract negotiations, attendance, and other areas, developing and implementing programs to address employee morale.
+ Coordinate special meetings of employees and training classes as requested by management to ensure employees are current on issues involving contract administration, business conduct, harassment, and other topics.
+ Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in HR, Business, or a related field.
+ 4-6 years of HR experience within a union/manufacturing environment.
+ Extensive experience with union negotiations, contracts, and employment laws.
+ Knowledgeable about FMLA and ADA Accommodations.
+ Experience with HR systems such as Kronos, UltiPro, or UKG.
