Job Details
The HR Managers particular areas of focus for this position are attorney and staff recruitment and retention, associate development, and team cohesion and connection.
Day-to-day HR responsibilities include:
- Leading the firm's staffing, recruiting and retention strategy.
- Overseeing the performance management and compensation processes for attorneys and staff
- Supporting current and future Firm needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of our team, including team events
- Handle firm payroll and benefits, including 401(k) plans
- Overseeing policy development, employee handbook updates, and distribution of these items to employees on an as-needed basis
- Serving as an employee advocate and point of contact for human resources matters, practice development goals, and concerns
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Communicating with partners and management regarding HR issues and recommendations, including attending weekly management committee meetings
Desired Skills and Training:
- Common technology and software skills (Microsoft including word, excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, electronic signatures, calendaring via outlook, setting up Zoom/Teams meetings, etc.)
- Supervisory HR experience is required (HR director, manager, or similar); law firm or professional services experience is a plus
- Experience with payroll processing, knowledge of applicable rules and regulations, experience using a PEO is a plus
- PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
- People oriented with excellent communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback
- Forward-thinking problem-solver with a “people first” attitude
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent active listening skills
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
