Primary Purpose:
Performs highly complex (senior-level) human resources support work. Works involves administering a human resources program and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Works under limited supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Communicate frequently with applicants, employees, administrators, and outside agencies.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Extensive knowledge of the principals and practices of human resources management, of compensation principles and practices; of job evaluation methods; and of the federal, state and local laws, statutes and regulations related to the field.
Ability to evaluate applicant qualifications
Ability to explain policies and procedures to staff and the public
Ability to implement certification rules and procedures
Ability to interpret and disseminate information to individuals and groups
Ability to multi-task
Ability to be a team player
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in the use of a personal computer – excel, word, email, internet and intranet
Ability to learn and become proficient in the use of various software
Ability to use mathematical skills to include addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication
Experience:
Five years’ experience in human resources management and or finance/payroll preferred, strong background in clerical, preferably in a public education environment.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepares and maintains various human resources correspondence and reports.
- Prepares job postings within appropriate systems, distributes to website and district.
- Processes and receive criminal history information in database to include all volunteers, MSU students, and applicants according to DPS guidelines.
- Process fast pass information into the SBEC database system for fingerprinting in accordance with SB9, send prospective employee information.
- Verify that the proper procedures have been followed when candidates are recommended for hire as well as verify that the candidate meets all qualifications for the position.
- Prepare employee contracts in the HR/Finance data system.
- Follow all record retention information.
- Maintain physical and computerized departmental files. Scan all employee information.
- Oversee DPS subscriptions and reconciliations
- Answer and respond to incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate
- Greet visitors, and assist employees and applicants with on-line applications, transfer requests.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Prepare and distribute copies as necessary.
- Work cooperatively with other departments.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Copier, calculator, personal computer, printer and shredder.
