HR Specialist Job Description
Reports to: HR Manager, Human Resources
Location: 305 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10001
Hours: 35 hours per week/Exempt
Salary: $55,000-$61,000 Yearly
Major Duties:
- Develop and maintain relationships with program and support departments as the direct point of contact for assigned programs
- Assist candidates through their onboarding process, which includes: creating offer letters, sending onboarding paperwork, collecting and completing I9 documentation, education and applicable certifications for licensed professionals
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team and HR Administrator team to ensure that onboarding process is moving efficiently, and communicate changes within assigned areas, including resignations, declined offers, and safety assessment.
- Elevate any employee concerns or grievance to HR Manager
- Process transactions in ATS and ADP systems, including: new hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations. Work with the payroll department to submit documentation by the payroll deadline.
- Manage and respond to general requests and inquires, including managing employee inquiries and communication submitted via email and the HR Hotline
- Maintain updated information and have knowledge of employment policies and practices
- Manage the offboarding process: exit interviews, processing accrual payouts and long term service awards and other related tasks
- Travel to a program site in assigned areas at least 1x per week
- Provide data entry support and report generation
- Assist with planning and coordinating HR events, including Staff Recognition Day
- Co-facilitate New Staff Training
- Perform other department or agency-related duties or special projects as directed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; High School Diploma required
- Must have at least 3 years’ experience working in an HR Specialist, Generalist, Recruitment, or similar capacity in a Human Resources role
- Experience working with an HRIS system a must; experience with ATS software a plus
- Must have attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Must be proficient in business software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite
- Capability to transition easily between working independently with high degree of self-initiative and contributing as part of a team.
- Able to use public transportation throughout New York City for travel to Good Shepherd locations.
