DutiesThe Human Factors and Performance Manager applies detailed knowledge of the technical aspects of the work that is directed pertaining to psychology, human factors and/or ergonomics to oversee the integration of human factors and performance into the Safety Management System (SMS) to meet strategic safety goals of the ATO and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
The Team Manager directs a staff of highly technical specialists who develop policies and processes to assesses workplace features to improve performance
The work includes complex projects/programs related to new systems and research on the physical, behavioral, cognitive, and social characteristics of aviation professionals such as pilots, air traffic controllers, and technical operations personnel
This work is a critical area of safety oversight and directly impacts the safe and efficient operation of the National Airspace System (NAS).The Team Manager applies detailed knowledge of Human Factors and Performance principles to identify and assess existing or potential issues, risks, and solutions involving human factors and performance
Establishes formal processes to integrate fatigue safety data and modeling/analytical methods into AJI safety metrics
Oversees the creation of reports and prepares results, findings and conclusions, which may address topics from training, selection, change management, ergonomics, fatigue and human performance
Develops and approves solutions to current and anticipated problems which cross organizational lines and disciplines
May participate in developing solutions to FAA-wide problems.The Team Manager applies a thorough understanding of the principles of management and strategic planning to integrate multiple risk based decision-making programs to improve human performance safety and efficiency across the NAS
Develops and executes plans, policies, and programs
Managerial duties typically affect employees and ad hoc teams, which includes: strategic planning; communicating the Director's vision and objectives; setting priorities; assigning tasks and responsibilities; monitoring and evaluating performance of organizational units, managers, or employees; coaching and developing employee capabilities; approving leave; and taking or approving corrective/disciplinary actions, as appropriate
Actively promotes, supports, and participates in the FAA's Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Program.Defines, plans, and organizes assigned budget, staff, and other resources to accomplish objectives for multiple organizational units, projects and programs, and across multiple functions and disciplines
Manages budget and either reallocates resources among organizational units/projects/programs and ad hoc teams or requests additional resources, as needed
Performs critical aspects of the budget planning process, including projecting short-term and long-term future needs and justifying resource requirements.Applies experience using project/program management principles to manage complex projects, analyze, interpret and communicate funding and performance metric information to enhance business acumen and to recommend solutions to meet ATO needs
Applies detailed knowledge of detailed knowledge of budget, human resource management, and other administrative policies and procedures; and a comprehensive understanding of the objectives of the major subdivision, the LOB/SO, and the FAA
Provides program support for the budget formulation process and/or acquisition management, including maintaining all necessary documentation and coordinating with all stakeholders.Contacts are routinely internal and external to AJI
Internal contacts are with subordinates, peers, and higher level management to discuss the statuses and results of projects/programs and plan for the future
External contacts include the aviation industry and other FAA organizations.Requirements Conditions of EmploymentUS Citizenship is required.Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).This position has a positive education requirement
