HRG is responsible for maintaining employee records, reviewing and monitoring transactions related to the payroll systems and overseeing all recruitment initiatives.
Description:
The Human Resources Bureau is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic HR Generalist to join our team. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who is a self-starter, capable of managing competing priorities and is eager to gain a variety of skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages the staffing requisition/job posting process on the state internal hiring system, by reviewing requisitions submitted for accuracy and compliance, guiding hiring managers on process steps, launching the approval process and posting the requisitions to ensure quality recruitment.
- Manages the candidate pools; vets the recommended candidates by assessing candidates’ profiles/credentials and submitting selected applicants for background checks.
- Recommends salaries for approval by following state guidelines or bargaining unit contracts.
- Conducts quality assurance reviews of all hiring recommendations to ensure procedural compliance.
- Conducts internal projects and information requests that involve the review and analysis of personnel information, preparation of findings and recommendations.
- Provides quality customer service to employees by conducting research of employment records and personnel administration rules in order to provide accurate responses.
- Maintains confidentiality of personnel information by following the Confidentiality Policy to safeguard employee data.
- Writes internal and external communications by drafting letters, instructions, forms and memorandums in order to communicate information to staff, other agencies or external parties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong business writing skills.
- Proficiency in Access, Excel, and Word.
- Human Resources Professional Certification a plus.
- General knowledge of Human Resource policies and process in a large organization.
- Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions and to make appropriate recommendations.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations governing the state personnel system.
- Knowledge of compensation/salary setting rules and regulations within HR guidelines.
- General knowledge of state and federal benefit and leave policies.
