About the Job
The Human Resources Business Partner is a hands-on role responsible for managing day to day tasks in a wide variety of HR areas and also play a strategic role on the leadership team to help drive the business forward. Helps design, implement, and lead HR programs and initiatives, and facilitates results that align with DHS’s goals, acting primarily as DOO. Aligns certain HR tasks under the HR guidance of VPHR for North America.
Essential Functions and Main Duties
- Lead and administer HR policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws and regulations and company policies.
- Communicate and educate employees and managers on a wide variety of HR topics. Promote good employee relations practices to contribute to a positive employer-employee relationship and foster a high level of employee trust and engagement.
- Manage recruitment and provide on-boarding and off-boarding of employees and interns.
- Prepare payroll changes for DHS. Review payroll change reports, and work with Payroll to ensure accuracy. Work with managers to ensure compliance with Time & Attendance regulations.
- Assist with Benefits enrollment and administration.
- Work with NKNA on leaves of absence for DHS employees, including compliance, documentation and communications.
- Partner with managers to identify, retain, develop, and motivate talent. Review and analyze business unit data to identify trends, and recommend solutions to improve performance, retention, and employee experience
- Handle immigration requirements for NKC expats in coordination with expat program manager; maintain DHS files.
- Investigate employee issues and provide recommendations for resolution, in consultation and coordination with VPHR.
- Use company HR systems and framework as trained to support DHS employee group.
- Follow, maintain, and contribute written HR Instructions for various tasks and responsibilities. Use to learn and cross-train HR team members for quality completion of tasks. Develop and implement improvements to HR processes.
- Maintain employee records and data. Run reports, compile data, and interpret trends as needed. Prepare data and materials for corporate, internal and regulatory compliance requirements and audits.
- Assist with coordination and scheduling of Company events/functions.
- Work with CEO to develop and support culture initiatives for the DHS subsidiary.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
- Duties may be modified or assigned at any time based on business need.
Qualifications
Education / Certification / Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business management, or related discipline; relevant education and experience accepted in lieu of degree
- SHRM-CP or PHR Certification preferred
- 7+ years of HR experience in a busy, diverse business environment, with an employee population that includes local and remote employees
- Experience in CA HR required
- Broad experience with managing and administering HR policies and programs
- Experience working in healthcare or other regulated industry preferred
- Previous experience as HR department of one (DOO) and as member of company HR Team preferred
- Level and compensation depend on location, experience, education and skills
Competencies Required:
- Practical, hands-on knowledge of general federal and state employment laws, practices and requirements, including: employment laws and regulations, including those related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other LOA requirements, Department of Labor, Workers’ Compensation, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Must research and maintain knowledge of HR best practices.
- Careful attention to detail, with effective organizational and analytical skills. Must maintain strict confidentiality
- Hands-on experience with HRIS. Strong computer skills in usage of MS Office Suite, and HR applications and systems
- Adaptable to changing requirements, deadlines and priorities as needed
- Ability to work productively with internal customers, to build positive relationships, and to effectively push-back as needed. Ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results.

Compensation
The anticipated range for this position is $115,000 to $125,000. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, experience and location.

Working Conditions
Schedule: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, unless otherwise stated by the department manager. Holiday, weekend, and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the organization or department and are subject to change at any time at the Company’s discretion.
Physical: Generally may require some reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying up to 20 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting, hearing, visual acuity, and color vision. More specific details may be provided as needed or requested.
Travel: Approximately 5%
