About the Job
We are seeking a passionate, process-oriented Compliance Specialist to help us reimagine the future of agriculture at Land O'Lakes! In this role, you'll have the opportunity to use your knowledge and experience to work across our 150-person, global HR organization as a trusted advisor. You'll play a key role in ensuring our enterprise retains its outstanding track record in compliance. Serving as the compliance expert, you'll ensure we meet federal and state requirements for reporting and ensure that our data and reporting is accurate.

Compliance Activities:
- Wage and hour:
- Partner with our Legal team to develop and deliver training for employees and managers in California on topics such as payroll laws, timekeeping best practices, risk and cost mitigation strategies, etc.
- Investigate non-standard payroll practices, develop risk assessment, and propose solutions to leadership to reduce the potential for wage and hour claims
- Create dashboards and audits and hold regular meetings with CA plant leadership on impacts of penalty payments to drive a reduction in unnecessary labor costs
- Proactively research any new or proposed legislation impacting wage and hour laws and work with appropriate teams (Legal, Payroll, Total Rewards) to ensure accuracy of configuration
- Partner with our Legal team to develop and deliver training for employees and managers in California on topics such as payroll laws, timekeeping best practices, risk and cost mitigation strategies, etc.
- Identify areas of continuous improvement
- Partner with the HR COEs, HR Leadership, and operations teams to identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of processes and programs

- Develops and maintains audits and metrics
- Develop audits to ensure accuracy of I-9s, state leave law compliance, etc.
- Partner with Payroll to ensure audits of paycheck calculations and payroll configurations are accurate and completed

- Government reporting and posting requirements
- Partner with HR Data team to generate, audit, and submit government required reports such as EEO, CA EEO, VETS as required by federal and state laws
- In partnership with vendor, ensure all locations have government mandated posting requirements met

- Affirmative Action Plan
- Work with outside counsel to understand annual action plans
- Partner with Legal, HR partners, and Talent Acquisition to ensure all aspects of plans are adhered to and documented (such as candidate outreach efforts)

Project Activities:
- Participates and provides guidance on projects, as needed, when new legislation is passed requiring large-scale changes in configuration
- Acts as subject matter expert regarding interpretation of the law
Internal Audit Activities:
- Partners with Risk Management and Lega teaml to coordinate completion of Physical Demand Profiles
- Review employee onboarding documents to ensure compliance with company policy and federal/state requirements
- Record retention
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field along with a minimum 2 years of experience in Compliance, Payroll or related Human resource's role, or Minimum of 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Intermediate Excel and knowledge of HR Platfoms
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Base compensation range: 68K-100K
