MISSION CONTRIBUTION: Work performed ties to the mission of "securing the future for Ohio's police and firefighters" by coordinating HR services, programs, and compliance activities. As a result, this function contributes toward a work environment that supports the retention of qualified staff and stable operations for OP&F members.
SUMMARY: The Human Resources (HR) Coordinator assists with the daily functions of the HR department including pay administration, staffing, recognition programs, employee events, training and development, safety and wellness, and records retention activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.

Behavioral Competencies: The Human Resources Coordinator must be trustworthy, organized, thorough, timely, knowledgeable in human resource laws, regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures, and be able to make sound decisions, listen and communicate effectively, relate to employees, and receive and learn from feedback.
Education and / or Experience:
Bachelor degree (B.A. / B.S.) in Human Resources, Organization Development, or a related field. Advanced Excel skills are required. Prior work experience or intern experience preferred related to HR or payroll is preferred.

Language Skills:
Ability to listen and communicate clearly. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write business correspondence, reports, and procedures.
Office Software Skills:
Ability to use word processing software. Ability to use advanced features of spreadsheet software in work products.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, ratios, percentages, and other calculations specific to this position. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and correctly deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk; hear; reach with hands and arms; use hands; work with a computer, monitor, and peripherals, sit/stand/walk; climb stairs; stoop; and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.
- Support payroll processing and pay administration.
- Train employees and supervisors on timecard reporting.
- Publicize, coordinate, and enroll employees in wellness and workplace events.
- Assist with benefits administration.
- Coordinate workers compensation claims and office safety programs.
- Assist managers and supervisors in their hiring process.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding.
- Assist in maintaining job descriptions and behavioral competencies.
- Track and document employee training.
- Manage HR and payroll files and records retention.
- Maintain proficiency in all software required for the position.
- Comply with laws, regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures and recommend changes to policies and procedures for approval as needed.
- Work with all OP&F staff and departments as needed to deliver high quality service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
