JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Human Resources Generalist
Department/Division: Human Resources
Status: Full-Time
Salary: Hourly/ DOE (Monday - Friday 8:00-4:30)
Supervisor: Human Resources Director
Subordinates: None
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the primary direction of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resource Generalist will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, which include administrative tasks, recruitment, onboarding, time and attendance, benefits, leave, training and development, and enforcing company policies and practices.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; productivity and morale; wellness and safety; and training and development.
- Assist in reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance for mandatory and non-mandatory human resources functions such as professional licensure, DMV, and job descriptions.
- Assist in recruiting, screening, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
- Generate official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, wage changes, and warning letters.
- Conducted new hire onboarding and newly hired or newly promoted employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and employee handbook policies and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records.
- Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Maintains compliance with applicable federal laws and regulations and best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Advanced computer skills include data entry, processing, communication tools, payroll, and human resources software.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required.
- At least two (2) years of human resource experience.
- SHRM or HRCI certificate preferred.
- Previous experience working with Native American Populations would be preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing during employment.
- Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace (including marijuana) as a condition of employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must have a valid class “C” driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
All employees are expected to follow the Tribal Employee Handbook of the Pala Band of Mission Indians and must adhere to any additional applicable addendums.
