The Human Resources Intern will design an employee professional development program. This includes proposing employee development sessions, creating a manager development track, and creating a proposal for implementation. The intern will also provide programmatic support to the global internship initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The Human Resources Intern will develop a comprehensive report with recommendations on training sessions, session descriptions, stakeholders, and timelines for employee and manager track development programs. The intern will use internal and external research and collect interview data as part of the design process for developing both program recommendations. At the end of the internship experience, they will be able to present their key findings and program deliverables through a formal presentation.

- Design employee development and training programs, including outlining the cadence, annual timeline, and overall structure.
- Outline a continual development plan for rising managers denoting how employees are selected and how the annual timeline is set.
- Conduct qualitative interviews with select department stakeholders to assess employee training needs.
- Analyze data collected from interviews and synthesize information into an outline for training sessions for general employees and a manager track.
- Benchmark employee development programs offered at other peer organizations and report findings.
- Conduct an internal review of internal resources and expertise to develop internal presentation topics.
- Serve as a liaison between US and UK-based internship programs by organizing informal and formal communication opportunities.
- Research and create internship program development sessions.
- Assist with reviewing potential vendors for a global Human Resources Information System (HRIS) system.
- Must be enrolled in a credited college graduate, undergraduate Human Resources, Education, or Higher Education program or in the process of obtaining a professional certification.
- Must be willing to work from the Chicago office on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Prior experience developing training programs is preferred.
- Prior experience or exposure in working in a mission-driven organization is a plus.
- An understanding of and a commitment to advancing the mission and values of Opportunity International.
