About the Job
Provide support to the Human Resources (HR) team in a variety of functions. Support implementation of new platforms and programs within HR. Execute ad hoc projects for Centers of Expertise (COEs), collaborate with other interns on projects or tasks and communicate with employees on important information or reminders.
Our internship program is designed to give students experience with projects and performing tasks within their hired work area. You will be exposed to other areas within the organization by participating in development, culture and volunteer events. This paid internship is 10-12 weeks in length with the possibility of extending hours into the school year.
Our internship program holds an 80/10/10 approach, meaning that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area. Another 10% of the time, you will be exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division to get more corporate experience. Then, the final 10% will be spent in shared experiences across the organization, where you will get to really learn about our culture and work environment.
Responsibilities:• Benefits:
-Create and assist with communications, marketing and coordination of initiatives.
-Research trending benefit electives.
-Learn and support the application of Leave of Absence and Family Medical Leave Act policies.
-Plan and execute benefits events.
• Compensation:
-Revise job descriptions, partnering with leaders and researching market data Research, evaluate and identify current and future compensation surveys in which to participate.
• Employment Law:
-Research and update required state employment law postings for company postings, handbooks, policies.
• Talent Acquisition:
-Observe and support talent acquisition initiatives, specifically the internship program and social media sourcing strategy.
-Observe and support day to day Talent Acquisition activity including, but not limited to sourcing, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
-Conduct phone screens and pass qualified candidates on to recruiting team.
• Learning & Talent Development:
-Support culture-driven initiatives including engagement survey and new hire onboarding program.
-Collaborate to redesign existing programs specifically converting existing training to e-learning Plans.
-Organize and facilitate book club for employee development.
-Gain exposure in a learning management system by setting up classes, managing rosters, and running reports.
• HR Support:
-Observe and support day to day tasks as questions are received.
-Answer employee questions and requests via the HR Advisors (HR Service Center) phone queue and ticketing system.
-Respond to inquiries via email, face to face and phone interactions.
-Obtain and provide requested information, or take appropriate action to resolve, refer, or escalate issues in accordance with company and/or HR policies and procedures.
-Support new hire training program including communications and tracking.
-Exposure to HR technology and learn how it can be used to support the business and assist in making data-driven decisions.
- Working towards a degree in Business, Communication Studies, Human Resources, and Management Preferred
- Demonstrated involvement in extra-curricular activities and/or civic engagement in high school and college Preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be accepting of change, collaborate with teammates and business partners, and effectively prioritize and meet deadlines as assigned
- Motivated, detail-oriented individual that understands the importance of clear communication and who is willing to provide input and recommendations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Effective use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
- Availability to work 10-15 hours a week during our core business hours during the school year with the ability to work 40 hours during the summer (May-August)
