Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager assists the Director of Human Resources with all facets of the HR department. The HR Manager provides leadership and direction to the HR department to maintain and develop compensation and benefits packages, maintain employee records, and recruit new employees. The HR Manager ensures that all Human Resource employees understand their job expectations, are trained and facilitated to achieve those expectations, and are acknowledged for their performance.
Essential Job Functions
Collaborate with the HR Director to design, recommend, and implement HR processes, strategies, and initiatives that align with and support the overall business strategy.
Manages the HR staff and all duties and requirements.
Serve as the main point of contact for employees, addressing their concerns and resolving conflicts to ensure a positive work environment.
Act as the primary point of contact for employees requesting Leaves of Absence, guiding them through the application process and providing necessary information.
Maintain confidential and accurate records for Leaves of Absence (LOAs) in compliance with privacy laws.
Oversee the employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and health & wellness initiatives.
Help organize and manage the annual health insurance open enrollment process.
Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.
Oversee HR administrative functions, including maintaining employee records, HR databases, and generating reports.
Foster a culture of engagement, organize team-building activities, and promote a positive work environment.
Lead HR projects and initiatives, such as employee wellness programs and change management efforts.
Oversee all hiring and the onboarding process of new hires, ensuring a seamless transition into the organization.
Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to support organizational goals and objectives.
Stay informed about employment laws and regulations, ensuring the company's compliance.
Conduct audits and assessments to ensure HR practices are aligned with legal requirements.
Secondary Job Functions
Assures all safety rules and guidelines are followed.
Maintains a professional appearance at all times when representing American Ambulance.
Attend all meetings as required.
Promote good morale by exhibiting exemplary conduct, a positive attitude, and support for communication personnel and American Ambulance.
Treats all patients, patient’s families and friends, health care agency personnel, and all members of the public with respect and professionalism.
Responsible for proper use of all facilities and equipment used or issued.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. HR certifications (SHRM-SCP, PHR, etc.) are a plus.
Minimum 2 years of progressive HR experience.
Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
Experience in employee relations and benefits administration for a large workforce.
Proven track record of handling sensitive employee relations issues with discretion and professionalism.
Experience working in high-pressure environments with a focus on the well-being of front-line staff. Preferred but not required.
Financial Authority
May purchase or authorize purchase of inventoried Items.
May authorize equipment maintenance/repairs up to $500.
May purchase and be reimbursed for non-budgeted, non-inventoried expenses up to $100.
May not contract or make financial commitments on behalf of the Company.
Human Resources Authority
May request hiring of employees for current/new positions.
May discipline employees up to a disciplinary suspension.
May approve schedules, AWR’s and changes to work week.
Communications Authority
May not release employee-related information.
May not release call-related information.
May release non-confidential Company-related information.
May use the American Ambulance logo in communications.
May use Company Letterhead
May communicate with the media.

Proficiency with HRIS, applicant tracking systems, and MS Office Suite.
Knowledge of benefits administration, payroll processes, and employee relations.
Goal attainment as set by the General Manager and Director of Human Resources.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are expected to be normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Local travel to various worksites is required. There may be occasional travel for conferences, seminars, and training.
