Merrimack Autism is looking for a dynamic individual to fill the role of a Full-Time Human Resources Manager. Some skills and abilities that an HR Manager should have include excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and negotiation abilities. They should also have attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and well-developed time management skills. Our ideal candidate would have strong presentation and public relation skills, as well as exceptional judgment and discretion. They should also be able to work well under pressure and think innovatively and rationally.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Confidential matters
Handling confidential matters with discretion at all times
- Planning and implementing HR policies and activities
This includes developing and implementing policies to improve HR processes. Enforcing company policies and practices, including sexual harassment and equal employment opportunity. Reviewing current company policies to ensure they meet state guidelines.
- Managing HR personnel
This includes supervising HR staff, and managing the HR department budget.
- Handling employment relations
This includes being the link between management and employees, and ensuring that all employment relations run smoothly.
- Overseeing HR initiatives
This includes managing employee-related initiatives, such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management, promotion, and exit interviews.
- Ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations
This includes coordinating with management to ensure compliance with HR laws and regulations.
- Analyzing data
This includes analyzing data to report on HR metrics for informed decision-making.
- Developing and implementing a Total Rewards/Pay philosophy
This includes regularly reviewing compensation and benefits market data, and monitoring pay practices. Providing monthly or quarterly reports to the HR Director on market trends.
- Hiring and Onboarding
Overseeing the recruitment and selection process, including interviewing and hiring new employees
Ensuring that new employees are properly onboarded and that their HR files are complete and compliant with company policies and laws
- Training and Mentoring
Planning and implementing training programs for staff.
Mentoring entry-level employees and interns with a focus on professional development.
- Staffing issues
Handling staffing issues, such as mediating disputes and directing disciplinary procedures. Following proper protocols in scheduling grievance meetings.
- Communication and Problem-solving
Communicating with stakeholders at all levels, including the CEO and executive staff
Combining communication and problem-solving skills to accurately document perspectives and take action in compliance with HR law.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Experience in a geographically distributed service industry such as human services, healthcare, hospitality, etc. strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years of Human Resources experience as a Manager or supervisor. Human Resources certification required.
- Experience or background working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Conflict resolution skills preferred
- DEI training a plus
- Experience in healthcare or child care is a plus
