Basic Function:
Primary function of the Test Engineer is to technically manage safe performance of the high voltage electrical production test laboratory and special testing. This is accomplished through interpretation of customer and industry standards, development of test equipment and procedures, and communication with cross-functional teams. The Engineer is also required to be proficient in the use of a PC to generate written reports, and to enter and manipulate test data in SAP and excel spreadsheets. These tasks constitute 90% of the Engineers time.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversight all technical aspects of the high voltage electrical production test laboratory.
- PD Detection, fault detection and troubleshooting
- Write new procedures for equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Ensures the validity and completeness of test data.
- Training new personnel on use of EHV equipment and safety.
- Dialogue with affiliates and outside experts for troubleshooting and system improvements.
- Manage special tests such as lightning impulse test, structural stability, IEC water penetration tests, dc superimposed impulse tests, and bending conditioning, etc.
- Specify test bushings for dc testing.
- Assist in all high voltage experimental trials.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
- The ability to accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; organize work into logical process steps; use time effectively; and establish priorities.

- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
- Able to speak concisely and articulately; asks open-ended questions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Some formal laboratory training preferred.
- Experience in electrical testing field or in a related area is a plus.
- PC literate; experience with Microsoft Word© and Excel© office software; SharePoint and SAP experience is a plus.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Requires visual and mental attention to details with regards to working around cutting equipment, hot surfaces and materials, high voltage test equipment and accurate recording of results.
- Requires some lifting and general operation of larger tools and equipment.
- Somewhat disagreeable working conditions at times due to excess heat, fumes, water, and noise.
