The Controls Technician will be responsible for installing (commissioning), troubleshooting, repairing, and programming building automation control systems while providing top tier customer service for all internal and external customers. The Controls Technician will utilize their knowledge of HVAC systems, control devices, basic computer operations, electronics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, direct digital controls, airflow, hydronic systems, IT networking, and building control techniques.
What you'll do:
- Perform job start up, checkout, and troubleshooting for HVAC control systems.
- Perform wiring checkout and assist in automation system start-ups utilizing commissioning tools.
- Complete adjustments/calibrations and submit commissioning reports on automation systems.
- Participate in job site meetings and final walk through on assigned jobs and complete all job closeout documentation.
- Perform repairs to building systems such as air handler's controls, room controls, chilled water controls, and issues related to the building automation system as well as make repairs to equipment as needed.
- Support project transition from installation to service team.
- Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Mechanical, electrical, or related technical degree preferred.
- Experience installing and/or servicing electronic control, HVAC, or other mechanical equipment preferred.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, sequence and applications.
- Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customers.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands:
- Continually enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
- Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling,climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and inoutside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company needs.
- Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
- Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
