Description
Responsibilities:
- Routinely works with HVAC-R equipment and components including, but not limited to, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, condensing units, heat exchangers, air handlers, fan coils, and VAVs *
- Complete daily tasks under general supervision and according to the contract schedule using a variety of pipe, tubes, and fittings made of metal and nonmetal materials (including steel, copper, HDPE, and PVC) and using handheld tools and power tools
- Cut pipe using pipe cutters, saws, hammers and chisels, cutting torches, and pipe cutting machines
- Bend and thread pipe using pipe bending tools, pipe bending machines, and pipe threading machines
- Connect pipes using threaded, grooved, soldered, brazed, and fused methods and secure pipes to structures with anchors, brackets, clamps, hangers, and pipe stands
- Ensure quality craftsmanship by inspecting installation against specifications and best practices including, but not limited to, observing pressure gauges to monitor and test the piping system for leaks resulting in the repair of leaks and/or voids as required by specifications and/or best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Three (3+) plus years of mechanical piping experience
- Solid working knowledge of blueprints, pipe type/material, pipe size, and related piping equipment and materials (hangers, supports, valves, etc.)
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
- Daily positive and team-oriented attitude
- Sign-on bonus is prorated up to 180 days
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to hear and speak clearly with professional standard grammar
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, climb stairs/ladders, reach overhead, and maneuver up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Controlled dexterity of fingers and hands (to include the use of mechanical substitutions)

B&I Contractors makes safety a priority for all roles. The Pipefitter Journeyman executes all tasks in a safe manner according to safe work practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be worn at all times upon entering the jobsite areas requiring stated PPE and when required by specific tasks. Pipefitter Journeyman will be trained on OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 as required. DPAS training is required for all Pipefitter Journeymen traveling to worksites. The Pipefitter Journeyman will take personal ownership and responsibility for receiving all pertinent PPE and safety training and wears PPE as necessary and executes safe working practices, always.
