About the Job
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the HVAC equipment and appliances on the church campus. The HVAC and Controls Technician will perform master journey-level work in the repair, maintenance, service, modification, troubleshooting, inspection and monitoring of the operation of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and associated plumbing, electrical, mechanical, EMS and controls systems. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, Saturday/Sunday (if needed)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshoots, maintains, inspect, modifies and repairs heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, and equipment including DX and hydronic systems and components, screw, reciprocating and absorption chillers, cooling towers, fans and fan motors, pumps and pump motors, electric controls and associated safety, overcurrent and other equipment protection devices
- Implements and facilitates the Energy Management System (EMS) and HVAC controls and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).
- Writes, debug, codes analyzes and enhances programs to balance energy management with comfort control; prepares documentation and control flow charts; monitors and adjusts computer based EMS program for proper HVAC comfort and energy management control.
- Evaluates preliminary mechanical design plans and specs for remodels, upgrades or new construction and provides control sequence of operation for HVAC equipment to be incorporated into design plans and specs.
- Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction.
- Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence to state and federal code requirements and reports back to manager.
- Ensure warranties for HVAC are maintained; equipment maintained in accordance with warranties and preventive maintenance guidelines.
- Maintain appropriate service and repair records.
- Maintain appropriate chemicals and supplies and inventory parts.
- Assist and serves as backup to other Facilities Management employees
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Technical or Associate degree, military or equivalent experience preferred
Training Certification by one or more accrediting organizations
- EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification
- HVAC Excellence
- Secondary Heat and Heat Plus
- National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)
- Partnership for Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Accreditation (PHARA)
Requirements
- Four (4) years working experience as an HVAC mechanic in a commercial, industrial or large facility.
- Possess a State of Georgia Drivers License.
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds unassisted, bending, standing, climbing or walking and work in inclement weather.
- Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
- Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical hazards as well as environmental hazards such a molds and various solvents.
- Thorough knowledge of various energy management systems: heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Knowledge of applicable building and safety code requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in maintaining a budget, and making forecasts for future costs and timelines.
- Ability to think analytically and independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel and Word
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full- time position; scheduling of days and hours will be agreed upon, but the position will require flexibility. Some work hours on weekends and holidays will be required as needed; must be available on call for emergency issues; understanding that special events and large church gatherings will be a part of the flexible schedule.
- Salary will be agreed upon depending on applicants skills and experience
- Thirty (30) and sixty (60) day performance and behavior reviews; at the end of day ninety (90)Â summation of probationary review
