Overview
This position, located in Washington, D.C., requires you to perform preventive maintenance and repair service work on HVAC, mechanical equipment, and other various building systems to maintain them for optimal performance. You will also identify energy savings opportunities at facilities, including system and operational changes that can decrease the property’s energy consumption. The HVAC Technician also performs routine building inspections of maintenance, plumbing, and other systems as necessary. The position is truck-based and includes travel to various locations within a specified geography. Must be a team player committed to customer service and safe working practices. Will require daily interaction with clients, tenants, and management in person, on the phone, and virtually. Must be able to independently plan work assignments, perform duties with a minimum of direct supervision, and assist others when prompted.
The base hourly rate is aligned with market data and is estimated between $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year, with the ability to achieve additional compensation through bonus. This salary range reflects base compensation for the position across all US locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors including relevant education/training, experience, and internal equity.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- To provide maintenance and repairs and replacements on a wide variety of commercial heating and air conditioning systems according to company standards providing the customer with a high-quality experience including but not limited to Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, 10 VAVs, RTU’s, VRV-VRF systems, Water-Source, Self-Contained & Split Systems, Pumps, plate heat exchangers, CRAC Units, Humidifiers, Gas Furnace, and associated equipment.
- Practice excellent safety procedures and holds fellow associates accountable for the same.
- Plans, manages, and schedules time effectively, working with assigned manager.
- Professionally and effectively completes each service job, PM inspection, or day's work.
- Reports status to customers and communicates job and contract progress to customers and managers using company-provided phone and software.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance.
- Availability for On-Call rotation that may require overtime or weekend work.
- Responsible for repair and maintenance of building-related mechanical, electrical, plumbing, air handling units, and other building mechanical systems while on call.
- Ability to lift heavy tools and materials up to 75 pounds, work safely from ladders or lifts, and work in tight equipment cabinets.
- Assist with obtaining proposals and coordinating work performed by outside contractors.
- Maintain van inventory, update maintenance and service records, and communicate that effectively with the manager.
- Purchasing necessary supplies and equipment, which may include loading and unloading these materials.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of service experience, Journeyman or Master license preferred.
- Experience working with complex HVAC systems and equipment including chillers, boilers, circulating pumps, FCU’s, Package Units, VAV systems (direct digital, pneumatic and automated control systems), Humidifiers, and Cooling Towers.
- Communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).
- Ability to pass a background and drug test.
- Clean driving record and safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
- Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
- Physically capable to lift heavy materials and tools, climb ladders and can withstand harsh weather conditions.
- EPA Universal 608 certification required.
