We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic team as a Controller. This role is an integral part of our accounting department, offering a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment while working with the real estate side of things. The successful candidate will have a strong accounting background, excellent analytical skills, real estate experience, and a thorough understanding of financial principles. This role requires a mix of both in-office and remote work, providing the flexibility to balance personal and professional commitments.
Responsibilities:
As a Controller, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing all accounting operations, including the month-end close of limited partnerships and the review of monthly and annual reports.
2. Preparing and managing the company's budget, ensuring all financial activities align with the set budget.
3. Ensuring compliance with USGAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
4. Utilizing Excel to analyze complex financial data and create insightful reports.
5. Working with the real estate team to manage financial transactions and processes.
6. Leveraging Yardi and MIP software to streamline accounting operations and improve efficiency.
7. Collaborating with various departments to monitor financial performance and support strategic decision-making.
8. Implementing and maintaining internal control systems to safeguard the company's assets.
9. Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports for senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. A CPA certification is required
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the marketing industry.
3. Proficiency in using Excel to analyze financial data and create reports.
4. Experience with Yardi and MIP accounting software.
5. Strong knowledge of USGAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
6. Experience in real estate accounting and the month-end close of limited partnerships.
7. Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all work.
8. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
9. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
10. The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
