Job Description: Top Motorsports company and is looking to hire a Hybrid/HV Powertrain Engineer. This position can be located in Indianapolis, Columbus, OH, or Santa Clarita CA.
Responsibilities include:
- Part of traveling Trackside Support Group - supporting race and test events
- Provide trackside engineering support to the company and partner racing teams
- Hybrid/HV systems for LMDh car in IMSA series
- Monitor vehicle hybrid controls and high voltage systems during track events. Ensure mechanical, electrical, and thermal systems performs as expected
- Ensure safe running of systems and help define HV safety protocols, serve as OEM HV Safety Officer
- ESS System Commissioning and Decommissioning, ensure car and ESS systems are safe for vehicle work, transport, etc.
- Point of reference on the race car for running Hybrid safely, define process/procedures
- Telemetry data analysis of hybrid system (battery, motor, invertor, DC-DC)
- Develop templates, macros, analyze scripts for system performance and durability
- Work with other PU engineers and race team before during and after the race event
- Ensure system performs within durability limits and extract maximum performance for from the strategy, ensure operation within regulation limits
- Daily reporting on systems performance and reliability, calibration, or systems updates
- Liaison with sanctioning body and common supplier representatives
- Liaison with performance application and vehicle performance group on energy management and system application
- B.S. degree in Electrical or Mechanical (or similar) Engineering with emphasis in electrification, hybrid vehicle performance, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with hybrid systems, ideally in a motorsports role.
- Understand ERS operational states and safety.
- Previous technical writing and reporting required.
- Use of advanced data analysis and database experience required.
- Knowledge and experience with powertrain calibration and controls.
- Experience with F1, FE, LMP1 etc., hybrid/BEV systems preferred.
- Two years of both theoretical and practical electronics/hybrid design, prototyping and build, analysis, and problem-solving experience.
Additional Skills:
- Ability to read schematic drawings.
- Hands-on experience with specialized energy systems power electronics, testing and control systems.
- Competent hands-on skills with a variety of hand tools, experience with electrical components and hardware advantageous.
- Overall electronics operation and development experience.
- Excellent computing skills, competent with main Microsoft products.
- Ability to effectively interface with various personality types; data mining and tool creation; good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in team environment and under minimal supervision.
Location can be Indianapolis, IN, Santa Clarita, CA, or Columbus, OH area.
Weekly Flat Rate $1,730 - $2,307 DOE
