Position:Electrical & Instrument Technician
Primary Location: East St.Louis, USA
Shift: 8 Hours per day - 40 hours per week
Reports to: Maintennce Manager
Compensation:$34.64 - $39.78 + Benefits
The US hourly rate for this position is $34.64 - $39.78 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. About this Role and About You
Electrical & Instrument Technicians install, repair or maintain in accordance with manufacturer’s or site specifications, electrical and instrument equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
Qualification
Knowledge
- Five (5) years industry experience in instrumentation and electrical or an associate’s degree in Instrument or Mechanical Technology.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
Competencies
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer’s literature, diagrams or schematics.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and computer knowledge.
- Must be capable of wearing all protective type of equipment needed to complete jobs in safe and orderly fashion.
- Be available to work overtime and understand that it is a job requirement if no volunteers can be found.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace items such as instruments, valves, disconnects and starters in order to protect personnel, equipment and to keep processes running.
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair and reassemble equipment such as automatic valves, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, in order to restore to operation.
- Measure, cut, bend and install conduit, fittings and tubing as needed to install or repair equipment.
- Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wire, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures
- Lock, tag, try and test energy sources in order make equipment inoperable and safe to work on.
- Plan and coordinate work with other crafts while installing new work or replacing existing parts with new models.
- Receive training and be able to retrieve OSHA information such as PSM, MSDS, hazardous material lists, safety procedures, corporate standards, etc.
- I&E Technicians will reinforce the safety principles of the area and site and ensure trainees follow the standard work practices and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and correct problems with Distributive Control Systems equipment using test equipment and techniques to restore equipment to operation.
Working Environment
- Chemical manufacturing plant producing Liquid Alum, ACH and PAC chemicals
- Physical capability of performing tasks in 100 degree ambient temperatures while wearing Protective Personal Protection.
- This job requires climbing stairs and ladders and also lifting (within OSHA guidelines).
- This job consists of outside elements where radiant heat or cold is normal work environment, and rotating shifts.
- Following all plant safety guidelines such as: Confined Space, Working with heights Management of Change, Hot Work and Operating Procedures
- Must be able to work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 14 – 16 hour days for emergency operations/repairs.
