About the Job
The IT supervisor (iSeries) directs and oversees the TMHNA manufacturing operations environment according to business needs. Establishes policies and procedures that produce high-quality software product and service. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives and develops policies/procedures to support manufacturing. Directs the work of engineers to ensure the best practices around software development. Manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
Essential Position Duties
* Supervise and delegate duties to the iSeries development team.
* Hire and train new developers.
* Establish development standards for the team.
* Deliver reports and proposals to upper management.
* Create a budget and timeline for the development project.
* Develop and implement new software programs.
* Work with contracted support to schedule regular PTFs
* Work with contracted support to maintain/replace existing hardware
* Work directly with IBM for necessary support.
* Maintain High Availability Disaster Recovery(HADR) LPAR
* Work with 3rd parties for HADR during a DR event
* Maintain and improve the performance of existing manufacturing software.
* Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimization.
* Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary.
* Develop and implement new software programs.
* Maintain and improve the performance of existing software.
* Clearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support colleagues.
* Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimization.
* Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary.
* Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
* Additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
* 3 to 5 years’ experience as an iSeries developer
* 3 years’ experience as an iSeries Supervisor
* 3 to 5 years’ experience developing in and supporting a manufacturing environment.
* Associates degree in software engineering or computer science, Bachelor’s preferred
* Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
* Must possess exceptional troubleshooting skills and be able to assess quickly complex programming applications.
* Familiar with a variety of programming languages, codes and processes.
* Experience with the RPGIII ,CL ,DDS ,RPGiLE, RPG Free, SQL400, Web admin for iSeries, Client Access, RDi
* Experience with TLAForms, TLABarcode, aXes, presto, mflex, sflex is a plus but not a requirement.
